Sammy K (Kestenholtz)
Sammy K began his professional career at the age of 13 in Michigan. Since then, his musical journey has taken him internationally with groups as diverse as The United States Air Force Band of Flight, Dolphin and Sea Wind Cruise Lindes, and Disney. While earning his degree in Political Science/Communications at Western Michigan University, he performed at Disneyland, Cedar Point and was a staff member of Showchoir Camps of America. Currently based in Los Angeles, Sammy K has performed with a list of artists that include: Bob Hope, Steve Turre, The Coasters, Dave Brubeck, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Jon Hendricks, Steve Brove (Euge Groove), The Stars of the Lawrence Welk Show, Ray Anderson, Kate Miner, The Angel City Chorale, Claudio Rodidi, and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. In last year's season finale, he appeared on Ally McBeal with KC and the Sunshine Band. Most recently, Sammy appeared on ABC's Wayne Brady Show. A recipient of multiple Down Beat Awards and a Grammy nomination, he has recorded tracks for a wide range of clients including: The Walt Disney Company, The Hal Leonard Publishing Company, NBC, and Ferrari. Sammy has appeared on the Aaron Spelling television show Titans, in the movie The Fast and the Furious, and several specials on The Learning Channel and Discovery Science Channel. His talents are in demand for many of Los Angeles and Nashville's finest singer/songwriters, both live and in the studio. Sammy has spent the past 18 years performing internationally with Disney, Dolphin and Sea Wind Cruise Lines, and for the Air Force Jazz Band. An inspirational, innovative and dynamic teambuilding, Sammy has brought UpBeat programs to such diverse groups as cancer patients, college students, advertising executives and children, Sammy is an inspiration and talented teambuilder. He is co-creator of the UpBeat body percussion game, "Body Beat."
